(5/21/2013) - The National Tour of THE GERSHWINS' PORGY AND BESS, winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, will star original Broadway cast members ALICIA HALL MORANas Bess, NATHANIEL STAMPLEY as Porgy and PHILLIP BOYKIN as Crown. The tour will also feature Broadway cast members SUMAYYA ALI as Clara, DAN BARNHILL as the Detective, BRYONHA MARIE PARHAM as Serena, ALLISON BLACKWELL as a Woman of Catfish Row, ROOSEVELT ANDRE CREDIT as a Fisherman and JOSEPH DELLGER as the Policeman. The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival will be held June 7-16, 2013 in the streets, open spaces, galleries and historic plazas of downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District, Gateway Center, and Point State Park. Pittsburgh JazzLive International Festival will be held June 7-9 at various locations in the Cultural District.

(5/2/2013) - On Wednesday, May 1 western Pennsylvania celebrated high school musical theatre with the 17th annual Night of the Stars showcase at the Palace Theatre in Greensburg. Founded by John Noble, students from schools across the region presented highlights from their spring musicals at the highly anticipated event attended by more than 1,400 students and families. Each school received a cash award for their participation and two students received scholarships.

PICT Theatre Announces OUR CLASS Panel Discussion, 5/5

(4/26/2013) - In conjunction with its production of Tadeusz Slobodzianek's Our Class, PICT Theatre has coordinated a panel discussion that includes noted historian Jan T. Gross, author of the book Neighbors, which revealed that the killing of up to 1600 Jews in Jedwabne, Poland in 1941 was perpetrated by their own neighbors and not the Germans. The play Our Class tells the story of 10 classmates who betray one another as Soviet and Nazi regimes invade their village.
