Lachey, Struthers to Headline Pittsburgh CLO Summer Season

Pittsburgh CLO's 2010 Summer Season is definitely something to sing about! Highlighted by some of today's biggest blockbusters, Tony® Award-winning scores, heart touching dramas and a splash of old-fashioned romance, the 64th Summer Festival of musicals will treat audiences to Broadway's best right in their own backyards. Now, let's take a sneak peek at the early list of performers set to take to the Benedum Center stage as part of this season's lineup. Subscribe today, because you have just nine weeks left before Oliver! kicks things off on June 1.

Drew Lachey makes his Pittsburgh CLO debut as Corny Collins in Hairspray (July 20 - August 1). Mr. Lachey is probably best known for winning ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" in 2006, along with his work in the pop group "98 Degrees," which he joined in 2005 with his brother Nick. In addition to television appearances on "As the World Turns," "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica," Mr. Lachey has appeared on Broadway in Rent and Monty Python's Spamalot.

Sally Struthers returns to Pittsburgh CLO as Carmen Bernstein in Curtains (June 22-27). She was last seen in 2007's The Full Monty and in the 2003 production of Annie. Among her hundreds of television, film and theater credits, she is best known for her Emmy®-winning portrayal of Gloria on the legendary television series "All in the Family." On Broadway, Ms. Struthers appeared in Neil Simon's female version of The Odd Couple and Wally's Café, as well as Tommy Tune's Broadway.

E. Clayton Cornelius makes his Pitttsburgh CLO debut as Seaweed in Hairspray (July 20 - August 1). His Broadway credits include A Chorus Line, The Lion King and The Music Man. Mr. Cornelius has starred in the National Tours of Dirty Dancing, Hairspray, The Goodbye Girl and The Wiz.

Ed Dixon returns to Pittsburgh CLO as Dr. Engel in The Student Prince (August 3-8). Mr. Dixon last performed for Pittsburgh CLO in the 2005 production of Dr. Dolittle. He has appeared in a dozen Broadway productions, including Sunday in the Park with George, Gore Vidal's The Best Man, The Iceman Cometh, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Les Misérables.

John Treacy Egan makes his Pittsburgh CLO debut as Max Bialystock in The Producers (July 6 - 18). Mr. Egan appeared on Broadway in the 2009 revival of Bye Bye Birdie, The Little Mermaid, the original Broadway production of The Producers and Jekyll & Hyde. His television credits include "30 Rock," "Cupid," "Law & Order" and "As the World Turns."

Kecia Lewis-Evans also makes her Pittsburgh CLO debut as Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray (July 20 - August 1). She has performed on Broadway in Shrek, Chicago, The Drowsy Chaperone, Once on This Island, Ain't Misbehavin' and Big River. She also appeared in the National Tour of Dreamgirls. Her television credits include "Crossing Jordan," "The Hughleys" and "Law & Order."

Ashley Spencer returns to Pittsburgh CLO this summer for three consecutive performances, starring as Nikki Harris in Curtains (June 22-27), Ulla in The Producers (July 6-18) and Amber von Tussle in Hairspray (July 20 - August 1). She appeared in the 2009 Pittsburgh CLO production of Les Misérables, on Broadway in Grease and Hairspray and in the National Tour of Barbie Live in Fairytopia. She was a finalist on NBC's "Grease: You're the One That I Want."

Jim Stanek returns to Pittsburgh CLO for the first time since 1994 when he takes the stage as Leo Bloom in The Producers (July 6 - 18). Mr. Stanek was a CLO Mini Star, attended Seneca Valley High School and Carnegie Mellon University and appeared in several CLO productions in the early 1990s. He has appeared on Broadway in Lestat, Little Women, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Indiscretions.

Paul Vogt makes his Pittsburgh CLO debut as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray (July 20 - August 1). Mr. Vogt is best known for his work on the hit television sketch series "MADtv" from 2002-2005. He also starred as Edna in the Broadway production of Hairspray in 2007. Mr. Vogt's film credits include "Valentine's Day" and "Raising Helen." His other television appearances have included guest roles on "Chicago Hope," "Arrested Development" and "Hannah Montana."

Several Pittsburgh-based performers will be appearing in various productions throughout the summer, including Jeff Howell (Oliver!), Gene Saraceni (The Student Prince), Tim Hartman (The Student Prince), Daniel Krell (Curtains) and Myrna Paris (The Student Prince).

Additional casting news will be released in the weeks ahead.
