Jeff Calhoun to Award $5,000 Scholarship to Pine-Richland Student

Broadway director and choreographer Jeff Calhoun will soon award the Jeff Calhoun Performing Arts Award to a senior at Pine-Richland High School. This is the sixth year that Calhoun, a 1978 graduate, will award a $5000 scholarship to a student who is planning to pursue a career in the performing arts and meets the scholarship criteria. Applications for this scholarship are due April 19, 2013.

The applicant should be a performing artist, including butnot limited to: actor, singer, dancer, musician, composer or playwright. Completed applications are due to the High School Guidance Office by April 12.

RHS alumnus Jeff Calhoun will review the applications, andan announcement of the scholarship winner will be made in conjunction with thePRHS Senior Awards and Commencement activities.
The scholarship winner must provide Jeff Calhoun will noless than two updates on their progress as a performing artist within atwo-year time frame.

Calhoun's Broadway credits include the first Broadway revival of Grease (1994), Annie Get Your Gun (1999), Bells Are Ringing (2001), Brooklyn The Musical (2004), and Grey Gardens (2006).
Calhoun recently directed and choreographed the Broadway musical Bonnie & Clyde, a collaboration with composer Frank Wildhorn, lyricist Don Black and librettist Ivan Menchell. Calhoun also directed Newsies, which earned him a Best Director of a Musical Tony nomination.
He also directs the first revival of Jekyll & Hyde, which will open on Broadway this spring.
