We asked Shatner about his history with the Pittsburgh area, and he indicated that , in addition to spending time at Carnegie Mellon University when doing research for one of his books, and attending at least one ComiCon here, he has also played Pittsburgh on several occasions.
"I'm looking forward to coming there. The [Pittsburgh] audiences have always been spectacular. I'm looking forward to having them visit with me in this theatre. They will enjoy the show! The show has been getting great reviews and great reaction - it's entertaining, it's edifying... I riff on ALL kinds of subjects, from motorcycles, to music, to horses, to love, to death, it's a show that appeals to a lot of people and it's been getting great reaction - and I know it will in Pittsburgh."
Shatner does not exaggerate when he describes the positive reaction to the show. Shatner’s World has been described as a, “chatty, digressive, and often amusing tour of his [Shatner’s] unusual acting career,” by the New York Times, “a fun evening of personal reminiscence, gossip, video clips and old-fashioned humor,” by AM New York and “equal parts endearing and funny – a mixture of two worlds, really: every day and rarefied,” by The Philadelphia Enquirer. Shatner himself has been praised as, “the most confident of performers,” by The Record and “a personality of galactic proportions,” by the New York Post. Shatner’s humor and ability to poke fun at himself, make this show a must-see memoir of a Hollywood veteran’s life.
