BUBBLE TIME Makes Its Pittsburgh Premiere, 3/22 & 23

Pittsburgh International Children's Theater, a division of The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, presents the Pittsburgh premiere of Bubble Time from March 22 - 23, 2013, at the Byham Theater. Performance times include Friday, March 22 at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, March 23 at 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Citizens Bank is the season sponsor of Pittsburgh International Children's Theater.

Bubble Time combines visual art, clowning, jazz music, improvisation, and brilliant bubbling to create an eye-popping and hysterical show. The characters "Yesac Elrac the Bubblemaniac" and "Bub" are brought to life, respectively, by circus veterans Casey Carle and Doug Rougeux who introduce the audience to their world of inflatable furniture, pools, and psychedelic liquids. Watch as the ordinary becomes the extraordinary and discover how common items can become amazing manipulators of bubbles. The first ever stage show to combine the talents of comic bubble entertainers, this non-verbal show uses a variety of musical styles and well-placed silences to emphasize the physical comedy that the performers use to create an unforgettable experience. The performance is approximately 50 minutes long and is recommended for children ages 4+.

The show's co-creator, Casey Carle, started his career "bubbling" for the Ringling Circus Brothers. After leaving the circus he created his own one-man show, BubbleMania!, which also revolved around bubble manipulation. He went on to release Bubble Time with Doug Rougeux in 2008. Carle was the first circus performer to encase an audience member in a soap bubble, and his outstanding educational and entertainment achievements have been recognized by science and children's museums from coast to coast including the Smithsonian Institute. A few of Carle's other accomplishments include; acting as a consultant for Cirque du Soleil for soap bubble routines, being crowned Champion Bubble artist in Japan, working as a Bubble Consultant/Technician on national TV marketing campaigns, being featured at the Lucille Ball Festival of New Comedy, earning a "Teacher's Choice Award" from Learning magazine, and many more. Carle is a theater veteran and has performed, produced, directed or stage managed over 40 productions. Carle is also the co-founder of The East Haddam Stage Company with his wife, Kandie. His considerable experience helps to make Bubble Time a memorable and fascinating experience for the whole family.

Doug Rougeux is a graduate of The University of Buffalo in Media Studies and The Ringling Brothers Clown College, and toured nationally with the Ringling Bros & Barnum and Bailey Circus for two years after graduating. An experienced theater veteran, he has acted in many productions from family theater to farces to dramas. His extensive talent has been recognized by two Theater Association of New York State Awards: Excellence in Acting (The Dining Room) and a Merit Award for stunt choreography. As an actor he has portrayed major roles in over 20 productions including A Christmas Carol, Lend Me a Tenor, My Fair Lady, Noises Off, Run For Your Wife and You Can't Take it With You. He has also been the creator, co-creator or original cast member of Takeo Fujikura Mime, The Loons, The Comedy Juggling Show, Bubbling & Juggling & Mime, The Juggling Quartet, Off The Cuff Comedy, Tales of the Canal, Don't Feed the Actors Improv Troupe and with Casey Carle: Bubble Time: The Dawn of Undiluted Joy!
